Nature, magic, family fun, and just minutes from Magic Kingdom

Your Complete Guide to RVing at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is one of the most unique places to stay in Disney World. With 750 wooded acres, peaceful campsites, wildlife, golf carts, and endless recreation, it feels like a vacation within a vacation. Over the years, my family has stayed at the Fort many times, and it continues to be one of our favorite Disney escapes.

Whether you’re RVing, tent camping, or booking one of the new DVC cabins, this guide covers everything you need to know for the perfect stay.

Why We Love Fort Wilderness

  • Just minutes from Magic Kingdom

  • Peaceful, wooded atmosphere

  • RV sites, tent sites, and new cabins

  • Amazing recreation options

  • Easy transportation to the parks

  • Perfect balance of Disney magic + nature

Mom Tip:
Our perfect day: rope drop at Magic Kingdom → quiet lunch back at the campsite → swim at Meadow Pool → end with Chip ‘n Dale’s Campfire Sing-Along. It’s Disney magic + family time all in one.

Mom Tip:
When we travel with family, we link our reservations and request the same loop. Not guaranteed, but we’ve always been placed near each other every time.

Final Mom Thoughts

Fort Wilderness is truly a special place, and honestly, it is our family’s favorite place to stay at Disney. There’s something about the quiet mornings, the golf cart rides, the wildlife, and the evenings around the campfire that makes every trip feel magical in its own unique way.

It gives us space to breathe between busy park days. Whether we’re swimming at the Meadow Pool, watching the deer along the loops, or ending the night with fireworks on the beach, Fort Wilderness always slows us down just enough to relax.

For our family, it’s the perfect balance of nature, comfort and the place where some of our very best Disney memories have been made.
