Nature, Magic, & Your RV: Enjoy a Budget-Friendly Campsite Experience at the Fort Wilderness Resort!
Want to combine your love of Disney World and your love of camping? Then Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort just might be right for you. My family loves camping at the fort. It allows us the freedom to roam around its 750 acres and escape from the busy crowds of the parks. Relax at your campsite, cook a meal, or explore all the campground has to offer. And it has a lot to offer!

As a family, we have experienced many Disney resort stays, but nothing compares to a Fort Wilderness campsite stay. From the first time that we made the 10-hour trek to Disney in our RV, my husband swore he would never stay in a resort again. And that’s a promise he’s kept. We have experienced at least 6 campsite stays at the fort and have loved them all.
RVing
Although it might take a little bit of extra fuel to get you to the fort, it is worth every penny. Campsites at the fort can be a savings to your pocketbook. Prices range from $100 for tent camping to $280 for premium campsites. We are a family of five, so we have to be creative with our stays at Disney and the fort is a perfect fit. Besides, we much prefer having all the comforts of home right in our RV.
No need for a dining plan, save money by bringing meals for breakfast, lunch, & dinner, and don’t forget to pack those park snacks. With the convenience of RVing, you can save hundreds of dollars in meals alone.

What are campsites like at Fort Wilderness? Campsites range in size, location, and price. Tent, full hook up, & preferred sites are the smallest concrete pad sites with a sandy area to pitch a tent. We prefer to stay in a premium site. These sites are larger with full concrete padding, no sandy area. Some of these premium sites can be up to 65 feet long. We have parked our RV and a trailer in our campsite and still had plenty of concrete space.
Campsites
All campsites at Fort Wilderness have power, water, cable, and internet. Most have sewer hook-ups, except for tent sites. Premium sites are the most popular with full concrete padding and a little bit of extra magic, these sites have upgraded picnic tables and outdoor grills. Premium sites are located in prime locations around the campground.
Campsite Loops
Fort Wilderness campsites are in a loop configuration. Yes, that’s right campsites make a circle around from the entrance of the loop to the exit of the loop. Campsites are tucked away off the main roads that run through the campground. Camping loops also include a comfort station for washing clothes, taking showers, or buying ice to keeping those drinks cold at your campsite.
Usually, we stay in the 400 or 500 loop close to the marina, but any loop at the campground can be a perfect fit, you just have to decide what location is more convenient for your family’s needs. When booking your campsite, you can request a specific campsite loop. These loop request are not always guaranteed, but we have always been placed in the loop we have requested.

Did you know that you can have up to 10 people listed at your campsite? Yes, that’s right, 10 people can stay at your campsite with no additional per-person fees. Campsites are a great savings for families when you consider the price of other Disney resorts. Did you know you can link your campsite reservation to the campsite reservations of family and friends through the My Disney Experience App? It is a perfect way to be all together in the same loop and create lasting memories.

Fort Wilderness Resort is located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area and offers all the amenities of a Moderate Resort stay. Spend time swimming at one of two heated pools, rent bikes, canoes, or kayaks, practice archery, or go on a horseback ride through the wilderness trail. Some of these amenities come with a fee, but are perfect for a day away from the parks.
Tri-Circle-D Ranch
A visit to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch is a free campground experience. You can visit the horses by walking around the barn. The Tri-Circle-D Ranch is where all the horses you see in park parades and along main street get groomed and rest up for their day in the park. How cool to visit with Cinderella’s horse.
Fort Wilderness Activities
There is so much to do at the fort and many activities are free. Enjoy a day at the Meadow Pool Recreational Center, swimming or playing volleyball. Watch the Disney Electrical Water Parade or the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Show from the beach area of the marina. Did you know that you can hear the music from the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Show on the Fort Wilderness beach? The sounds from the show play through speakers in the surroundings of the Fort Wilderness beach area. This is great for children who don’t like crowds or the noise of fireworks.
Campfire Sing-a-Long
Our family’s favorite free activity is Chip n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. My children have “grown up” around the campfire, and even as pre-teens and teenagers, they still enjoy the campfire activities. This happens nightly at the fort (weather permitting). It is a family-friendly activity of singing & dancing and roasting s’mores over an open campfire. You can meet & greet with Chip and Dale too. Get their autograph and take photos with them. No need for a lightning lane pass for this one. You are free to bring your own s’mores to roast in one of two large fire pits or you can purchase a s’mores kit at the chuck wagon. Enjoy a movie under the stars after experiencing the Campfire-Sing-A-Long.
Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue
Can’t forget to mention, the fort is home to the popular Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue dinner show. Enjoy live entertainment, comedy antics, and delicious food. This does come at a cost and you will need a dining reservation. Book early if you want to experience the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. The fort also offers different dining options from quick-service meals to sit down table service meals.

How do you get around at the fort? A golf cart of course. Although, there is a complimentary internal bus system, a golf cart is a much better way to get around the fort. A bike is another great way to get around the fort, but no electrical bikes, these are prohibited at the fort.
Golf Carts
Want to save money? Bring your own golf cart to the fort. There is no extra charge to your reservation if you bring your own golf cart with you. If you do bring your own golf cart, you must show proof of insurance and sign a waiver with a cast member at the welcome outpost. We love cruising around the fort on our golf cart. We explore the loops and search for wildlife.
There many designated areas around the fort for golf cart parking. This makes it convenient for visits to the Meadow Recreational Area, catching the water taxi to Magic Kingdom, or for those late-night bus returns from the parks.
Don’t have a golf cart, no problem. The fort has golf cart rentals. We recommend booking a golf cart rental in advance to secure a cart. Rentals can book up fast.

There are so many savings to discover at the fort, from campsite stays to meals to activities. Disney is offering a 20% and 15% off of campsite stays this summer — May 1st through September 30th, 2025. See the Disney World Website to view details for these money saving deals.
